#FASHION: MARKUS LUPFER FALL/WINTER 2013

When art makes love to fashion, the end result is always amazing. This season British designer Markus Lupfer cites his inspirations for his latest collection as Sonia Delaunay, Mark Rothko, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

While simultaneously infusing punk sensibilities, Lupfer’s collection sees sharp silhouettes, muted color palettes, and vivid print motifs. See more of the collection after the jump:

Dinner with anna wintour question

How do you feel about Anna Della Russo, Michelle Harper, Miroslava Duma, etc., specifically the way they dress? Do you feel it’s authentic or simply a way to get attention and be photographed?
 Anonymous

Does this look like somebody who doesn’t want to be photographed to you?

I love Anna Dello Russo, mostly because she is such an anomaly and I actually think she genuinely enjoys dressing like her wardrobe has thrown up all over her… BUT she is also totally aware of the street style photographers and unashamedly craves their attention.

Speaking broadly on the topic of fashion personalities, I think most are somewhere in between authentic and contrived with some tipping way over into the contrived area. At shows it’s painfully obvious and embarrassing when somebody is there for the sole purpose of getting photographed.
I think at the moment editors, models, bloggers, etc are making a more conscious effort to be the best dressed/craziest dressed because of the role social media is playing in fashion and the way brands are advertising. People are almost more interested in what Anna Dello Russo or Miroslava Duma or Natalie Joos are wearing around the Tuileries than what is being put down the runway/

A Designer’s Studio in Brooklyn~

Keeping up with the Joneses

annstreetstudio:

Oh to be a fashion designer in New York City…

Last night Gretchen Jones (you know the bright lipped dessert rose from Project Runway?) had a trunk show with beautifully constructed clothes, interesting  people, and unforgettable jewelry!

In the studio with Prabal Gurung

annstreetstudio:

Fit for the First Lady, adorned by celebrities, on the cover of WWD and still Prabal Gurung remains sweetly humble and wonderfully kind as he lives the American Dream propelled by his amazing talent for designing chic clothes.

A peak inside his working studio in Manhattan’s garment district, a long way from his fashion beginnings halfway around the world…

Ann Street Studio: A Day at Oscar de la Renta

annstreetstudio:

A glimpse into the working world of the people that give us season after season what is the designed beauty of Mr. Oscar de la Renta. From hand crafting gowns to fittings for that evening’s runway show- this is what it’s like to work for one of the most beautiful designers in the world.

Ann Street Studio: The PHOTOGRAPHERS...

annstreetstudio:

You know, as a photographer I’m always interested watching other photographer’s work, how they work and what their process is. When I come around at NYFW I’m very aware that I’m in the colosseum with these guys (who mostly ignore me since I’m the quiet one in the skirt) and this is their world….

Ann Street Studio: In the Studio With...Paco Rabanne

Coco Chanel once commented that Paco Rabanne was the “metalworker of fashion”. Known for pushing the limits on wearable fashion, Rabanne constantly questioned the conventions of clothing design.

Rabanne started his own fashion house in 1966 and retired in 1999 after his final collection….

My Summer 2012-13 favourite colourful fashion inspiration!

Loving bright monochrome, and eclectic bold and colourful patterns mixed together!

Sin Límite (Unlimited) - Vogue Mexico
December, 2012

It’s been 2 years since Vogue Mexico last asked me to be the cover girl and at that time it was for their 50th Anniversary Issue (click HERE). I’m very happy to be back on the cover and able to show you the first of two editorials I did for the latest magazine. Its always fun to change things up a littler and in this shoot I went back to being a red-head for the day. You might remember me teasing with a little behind-the-scenes image a few months back (click HERE) leading many to think I had actually dyed my hair, again.

Stay tuned for the next shoot, it involves me modeling in the center of the universe… ;)
